Snickers was rescued with a broken left hind pastern at 8 weeks of age. He spent 6 weeks in a cast and was eventually sound with only a slightly bent pastern . We were able to train him to ride and he was rehomed at age 4.Bought at an auction as a 2 year old. She was trained and became a great kid's horse. Rehomed.Nester was bought at auction and was our first donkey. He was the stable mascot for stables for several years until rehomed. He was one of a kind!Doc Frosts Fancy was a 25 yo AQHA mare by Docs Jack Frost. She was so thin that the auctioneer asked me to take her. She filled out and became one of our favorites. She was one of the sweetest mares I've ever had. She had a good life in her last years. She passed away from colic early in 2009. Princess was a 20+ yo Tennessee Walker Mare that was rescued from auction. She was featured on Fugly Horse of the Day. I was able to rehome her and she has a great forever home..Titan aka Cisco was a 20+ TB Gelding auction rescue that I was able to rehome almost immediately. He taught his young rider how to ride and will be greatly missed. He passed away of natural causes late in 2008.Lil Nick was a colt that was sent to auction at approx 2 weeks old. We bottle fed him faithfully for over a month but despite our best efforts our vet advised us to put him down. He is resting under a favorite shade tree in our pasture.Mason is a 25 yo Appaloosa Gelding auction rescue that was so thin I wasn't sure he would make it home. He became a favorite of mine and with proper care gained all his weight back. He foumd a great home last year.No one wanted Precious when she went thru the auction ring. She was too lame for the slaughter buyer so I took her home to end her misery. She was euthanized the next day. She was 18 years old. This guy was a 5 yo OTTB Gelding that had won over $80,000. We outbid the KB and brought him home. After x-raying his knees it was determined that he couldn't be saved and was in too much pain to go on. He was euthanized in 2008.Happy is a 20 plus QH Gelding that was previously donated to another rescue. We bought him at an auction. He was a roping horse in his younger days and we were told he went to the NFR. He has a forever home pending. Will was a 20 + QH Gelding that was given to me out of the slaughter buyer's pen. He had been thru too much and just gave up. I hope he knew he was loved in his last days.Bugsy the Holstien Calf and an Orphaned Colt. The colt was given to me by the KB when he was 1 month old. His mother had been sent to slaughter. I was able to find him and Bugsy great homes!Gal is a 20 yo Mare that we bought at an auction. She came here thin and bounced back immediately. She was rehomed late last year.Sundance was neglected and his hooves were so long he could hardly walk when I bought him last fall. He has recovered and is doing great.
Below is a tribute to the horses that have passed on.  Some were here for years and some for only a few days. We loved them all and they will be missed.
Below are pics of horses and donkeys that have come into our lives in just the last few years. Most of them were found at auctions were they were in danger of going to slaughter or were so ill that no one wanted them.  We were able to find great homes for most of them but a few were just to ill to make it.
