Joe was rescued out of a pasture late last year when his owners decided they no longer wanted him. His pasture mate had died and their grandkids didn't want to ride any more. He was even thinner than he is now. His rescuer had his teeth floated, dewormed him and did his best to put weight on him. He decided to donate him to me this March because I had more experience dealing with the older guys. Joe is 17 years old. He has a good appetite and it looks like he has already put on some weight. I have him on Senior feed since he doesn't chew hay very well and he has daily access to our pasture. It appears his only problem is lack of proper food. I will post pics monthly so you can see his progress.
Update 4/06/10: These are pics of Joe 2 weeks later. He has gained some weight and is doing great. He is very smart and will walk to his stall and wait for me to feed him when it's dinner time.
Update 4/22/10: Joe has been adopted. His new home will be is Seguin, TX where he will have access to over 50 acres of coastal and will be a companion to Sweetheart and another gelding.
