Dori is a 20 + year old Welsh Pony Mare that we got from the Seguin auction last year.  She was so thin and lame that we decided she was too much for us to deal with at the time.  She was hardly able to make it through the ring.  When we went to pay our bill we found out that she had been put on our ticket.  We decided we couldn't just leave her there and took her home.  She spent approx a month at my good friend Ellen's place and then was sent to me.  She had the worst feet I have ever seen on a pony.  Her feet were so bad that she couldn't even straighten her legs.  Due to neglect, her feet had grown so long that the walls were curled 2-3" under her hoof  and her toe was stretched out like a slipper.  She was standing on her walls with all kinds of gunk underneath.  I was able to remove the overgrowth and return her hooves to normal size in 1 trim without making her sore!  She still needs consistent trimming to return her toe to normal but Dori doesn't let it slow her down.  She has put on lots of weight and  has been known to run to the feed bucket if she thinks it's full!  She has a forever home here with us.
